Has anyone gone to him for a fitting or a lesson? If so, how was it?

I used to see him regularly. Honestly, he’s about as knowledgeable as it comes to fitting and teaching. His philosophy on all of it is somewhat controversial to some but it does make a lot of sense. There’s just some things i didn’t agree with or like. I now see Rob Noel. The good thing about fitting with James is you get to be fit outside to see ball flight etc. he has most equipment but sometimes he doesn’t have all of the up to date stuff. He doesn’t believe in after market shafts. He believes he can fit you into anything the manufacturer offers with maybe a few adjustments. The guy is a straight shooter beyond knowledgeable.
As for the lessons, this is where and why i ended up switching to a different instructor. Pending your experience with golf (james prefers teaching new golfers snd young kids, it’s just his passion) depends on how he instructs you. If you’ve played golf for a long time james won’t attempt to make any drastic changes in your swing. At least that wasn’t my experience. He believes that golf is all about how you deliver the face to the ball. Doesn’t matter how you truly get it there. There were some things i started doing over the years that were causing my game some issues and i wanted it fixed. I felt like he was putting a bandaid on my gunshot wound/swing. Not his fault but i was looking to fix the root of the issue.
But to answer your question the guy is good but it depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking to change your swing drastically and buy all aftermarket stuff from him you may want to look elsewhere. Just depends on your goals man. Hope this helps but may just confuse the shite out of you. He’s also 175/hr

So, if nippon is the best shaft for me I wouldn't know it because he wouldn't let me hit them?

To be honest I’m not even sure he carries all of those shafts. I’ve seen his fitting room and man, there’s not a ton of options.

Out. I will try to find someone else.

I think his accolades speak for itself. One of the few that are a top 100 in both instruction and fitting.

That he is. The guy is insanely knowledgeable. Imo he’s a hidden treasure down here. I personally was just looking for something different with my instruction.

Leitz is the best fitter in the state and an elite teacher. Too many teachers in Louisiana teach the golf machine which is simply farrrr too complicated and unnecessary.
