I think he's radically superior to Hammett. He revolutionized the right hand in metal, writes the best riffs and actually plays the 3 or 4 top solos in the Metallica catalogue.

Hammett is fine - a little too heavy on the wah and a little formulaic with the pentatonic speed runs.
