Currently planning a honeymoon trip to Tahiti and Moorea. Wanted to see if anyone on this board had any recommendations or hidden gems to check out.

Thanks in advance!

We honeymooned on Bora Bora and Tahaa. It’s been 12 years so my memory is a little fuzzy, but both islands are breathtakingly beautiful and secluded. We stayed in a beachfront suite on Bora Bora and an overwater bungalow on Tahaa. Overwater was great, but honestly we preferred the beachfront for its space and access.

Food options are somewhat limited but excellent on both. Bloody Mary’s on Bora Bora was a bucket list item for us.

The islands are made for relaxing, but there are plenty of activities if you like. We took snorkeling and overland excursions, and the parasailing is a can’t miss.

We only transited Tahiti (Papeete) and never visited Moorea, so afraid I can’t help you much with those specifically. If you have any other questions let me know and I’ll throw in what I remember.

You will have a wonderful trip. Congrats on your marriage.

Invest in a ski mask and a pistol first and foremost so you can rob a bank to fund your vacation.

From what I hear it is outrageously expensive these days from getting there to the food, accommodations, excursions, etc.

All that said, from what I have seen this one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Just went to La Moorea. Stayed at the Hilton in an OWB. It was amazing.

I would definitely recommend bringing your own alcohol. Me and my wife like to drink. Put down a fifth a day. Probably saved us over 1k to bring 6 bottles of Tito’s.

There was a really awesome seafood/steak joint on the island.. forgot the name. Everyone knows it though. Most of the restaurants will pay for taxis to bring you to and from the resorts So call and ask. The locals will try to screw you out of your dolla bills.
Make sure to negotiate price before hopping in a taxi.

I spent my honeymoon in Moorea but it was so long ago I can’t offer any advice. Best 12 days ever though.

We have an OWB booked here, so that is great to hear.

Did you buy it on the island or in duty free before flying in?

Good to know. Thank you!

I had planned on buying it at duty free but I had read the duty free in LAX had closed during covid so j ended up just packing the bottles in my checked luggage.

You can carry up to 5 liters of liquid per checked bag. I got these bottle packing sets off Amazon to ensure they wouldn’t bust as well. Worth a google.

Something like this [link=( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088DNZCRX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_YDPS3NCPJQFCDSRZZRQ8)]LINK[/link]

As far as excursions we did two.

One was an atv ride up into the mountains and through the pineapple fields. Pretty cool views.

Second was a snorkel trip that went to a few spots and let you stop and swim with sharks and sting rays. Would recommend both.

They provide snorkel gear for the guests at Hilton. You’ll be doing a lot of that if you enjoy the water. Tons of little reefs all around the area.

when you get there they will show you what OWBs are available to you and you get to pick (if they don’t offer this just ask).

I personally wanted one on the far left facing the mountain. All are good I’m sure but I’d definitely say stay away from the far end of the OWBs on the far right side. We snorkeled over there and it was definitely a little too deep for comfort to go chill and wade outside your bungalow. All the other areas were like 4-5ft deep in front of the room so much easier to chill in the water.

We brought a Bluetooth speaker and some cheap little blow up rafts and some shite string to tie it up to our dock and chill out.

Got any pics of this experience? My wife and I have been considering something similar.
