Agreed. It's virtually clear the TAMU AD doesn't want them in the SEC. Keeping them in different pods somewhat protects TAMU's interests.

A&M tried to work it out to play the game after leaving but UT Admin (don't forget Mack Brown either) shut it down hard.
I'd guarantee you that Jimbo and Sark would throw self preservation to the wind on this one and say "Let's play!"

This X 1000. A&M’s AD was crying about the possibility of Texas joining the SEC the minute the news broke. They’re terrified of the Longhorns coming in and restoring their little brother status.
