Original question reminds me of the thoroughly loaded one on the Army Infantry personality/IQ test: “ I would rather,
(a) Stay home and read a book,
(b) Go to the opera,
(c) Repair my car, or
(d) Take a long hike in the woods.”

Interesting Question.

I did fit you LW profile for a lot of my life, I was in a profession that was very closed, so I dealt with the same people day in and day out for years, and the job involved a lot of hours, so never even knew my neighbors.

The I retired and opened a retail business that had nothing to do with my past career. Retail means marketing, joining, speaking, radio, TV to promote your business. My friend circle expanded greatly.

The more you reach out to people, which I did as necessity for my business, the connected with people I like and respect.
