Add on question: I have an existing concrete pad but I’d like to expand the area and put down pavers. Any guidance on using existing pad? I guess the trick would be making sure the added area is level with the pad area?

no advice for installation, but we had our existing concrete covered with matching thinner-depth pavers and then the 'real' full-depth pavers installed level with them so it was one cohesive area... for aesthetics, I'd check to see if that's an option for your project.
