I have played graphite and steel, but I think a lighter club will help me so I want to go with graphite.
My question is how do you prevent “bag rash?”

You need to go into a store and schedule a “bag fitting”. Report back.

Bag fitting is the new thing.

See what you've done?
I hope you're proud of yourself.

The graphite will reduce the swingweight of your bag.

What’s bag rash?
Over time, graphite shafts develop pits, depressions where the shaft rest on bag.
I had a set get bad within 3 years.
Had a club snap on my follow through.
I was frustrated so I switched to steel shafts at 95 grams.
I was fine swinging them until I had open heart surgery.
Now I want to try the lighter 55gm to 70 gm graphite shafts, but I want to keep them from getting bag rash.

After I get my white belt and my ZX7s, I’ll have the fitting.

In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure that the new finishes on today's graphite shafts will not wear like the older one.
Years ago, the Aldila HM40 Gold shafts were notorious for the paint wearing off.
