Considering it more as an indoor range for swing work than as a Sim although that is a nice added bonus.

It is a great option for indoor range work. The app has a lot of good practice features. I prefer the camera based LMs (like ST and GC2) for indoors over radar. They don't require as much space and don't need to see as much ball flight to give you good data.

Space is what I don't have. I have a rapsodo for outdoors which works ok but its crap indoors. Garmin just released something that is supposed to have club data but its radar so i'm skeptical. No real in depth reviews yet.

Take a look at the garmin r10. Just now coming out. Think it’s about a third of the price. I’m looking to build a indoor sim setup in my garage towards the end of the year. Keeping my eye on the garmin to see how it’s perceived by the market. Have a buddy that just got a sky track so will be testing it out soon.

I saw both of those reviews I have been following the r10 closely however the reviews coming out so far are just from Garmin fanboys. I'm waiting for them to actually come out so unbiased reviews can give feedback. If you can accurately give club path data similar to that of a trackman at 1/10 of the price it will be a game changer. However spin is calculated and not measured which could be a big blow to accuracy.

I’m asking because I don’t know but is spin calculated by all non-camera launch monitors?

The only monitor that is radar based and measures spin that i know of is trackman.

You need to go camera based if space is an issue. All radar units need a good amount of space.

Thats my thought, my only hesitation is i only have enough room for short irons in the house so i do most of the longer clubs on the patio. Im told skytrak does not do well outdoors.

Ah, I didn't realize you were using outdoors as well. If you can shade the area it should be fine. The reason it can have issues outdoors is direct sunlight. If sun is shining in the lens, the cameras can have trouble.

I have a FlightScope Mevo plus and it’s great. I have it set about 7.5’ behind the ball and then the ball flies about 8’ before it contacts the net so you need a little space.
