Just got some updated information from my Congressman's office.

This might be helpful for others:

The National Passport Processing Center currently has 5, that is F-I-V-E employees in office processing passports.

In my case, I used the RushMyPassports.com service. It was delivered by them to the Philadelphia passport office. Guess what, that location is actually a drop-box which is contracted by Citibank. They receive the passports, deposit the checks, and then forward the actual documents to various processing centers.

Mine was sent to the National Passport Processing Center where currently there are only 5 employees working due to Covid.

Weird, did an initial for my children in late May, received their passports in 2 weeks, non expedited.

Wife did a renewal in early June, took 10 days for her to get hers, not expedited as well

They were quoting that same 8-12 weeks at the time
