I've been at a 14 handicap for awhile now. My irons have improved a ton over the last month or two since I changed a couple of things in my swing. Mostly eliminated head movement and focused on swing path.

While my irons were a little more erratic, my drive was my most consistent shot. Relatively consistent straight drive 260-270 average. I've been trying to ramp my swing speed up lately because I'm all upper body and feels like I'm leaving some distance on the table. I cannot get back to my consistent swing to save my life. It's hooking, slicing and I get a straight pull left at times. Off balance during the swing. I'm now spraying my drive and making up for my game on the irons and putting. Sticking at my normal handicap.

Going to the range tonight. I hate range time. I'd rather be playing.

Why can't all parts of your game seem to line up seemingly ever.

Make the fullest shoulder turn you can on the backswing and then rip it.

You need someone to video your swing.

But rising up and out can cause a ton of issues.

Shoulder turn then pin ur right elbow to ur side. Will make ur swing more consistent. Keep your head still.

You can break 80 with that distance. Stop trying to squeeze out extra yards and work on consistency and your short game.

I was probably getting a little ahead of myself. Made some gains on the irons and thought I could tack on the driver improvements as well.

I play with a guy that is consistently 20 yards longer off the tee so stupidly I'm trying to keep up. Now I'm having a hard time getting back to my previous swing. Felt a little more comfortable at the range last night but it's still borderline where I want it to go. We'll see how today's round goes.

I had the same issue for a month or so. I was really trying to make my backswing as extended as possible and was swinging too hard and it caused a nasty snap hook. I went back to my normal backswing and now I'm back in the 270-310 range with a normal looking draw and consistency albeit I still have my misses

The snap hook is what I was experiencing. Had a hard time correcting it with the extra speed. When I did prevent the snap hook, it turned into a slice. Kinda all over the place which is worse than a consistent hook or slice.

I went back to my old swing like someone suggested above yesterday and hit 80. Had a double on a par 3 on 16 which killed my chances at breaking 80. I actually had 4 doubles, two bogeys and two birdies. The rest were pars. Doubles just absolutely kill you. It was a good score for me but so frustrating to not break 80. I've broke it once (79) in my life a few weekends ago. I think I'm onto what I need to do to get there though. Keep grinding.

I was losing about 8 strokes fricking with my driver swing. I can't shoot low with a good driver alone but I will always shoot extremely poorly with a bad driving day. I think some range work can get you where you want to be but adding 10-15 yards isn't going to help me so I gave it up for now unless I'm on the range.
