What about that crash in Lafayette? The one that killed those folks on the way to the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, including sports reporter Carley McCord. Did the NTSB ever submit the final report on that fatal crash?

No distress message from the pilot. Nothing. The Airplane climbed to 900 feet, banked and then fell like a brick.

Seems the NTSB is taking a long time with this one.

Sad

Making a distress call at 900ft AGL isn’t going to do you any good when you’re trying to figure out how to save the plane. Aviate-navigate-communicate in that order.

Investigations often take over a year to complete, even longer when there is no CVR or blackbox.

To his credit it appears the pilot made a valiant effort to level that airplane and crash land it in that pasture. He simply ran out of altitude. Hitting that power line didn't help either. Yep, he was an experienced pilot and he was trying to save himself, his passengers, and his airplane.
