An Avalanche will actually do truck things since it's a Suburban with a box.
I had an ‘05 and then a ‘09 Avalanche.
Wonderful vehicles, I averaged around 50k miles per year on them.
I’d get 22-23 mpg, I’d still be in one if they still built them.
Fun Fact:
The guy at GM who designed the Avalanche moved to Honda and designed the Ridgeline.

Avalanche was Suburban based. Tahoe is much shorter.
Look at the back doors. Tahoe's are cut to fit the wheelwell. Burb and Avi are not notched as their wheelbase is much longer than the Hoe.
The Avi had the locking side storage boxes and coil spring rear suspension long before Dodge. And they didn't have a negative effect on payload nor towing. Hauled 15 sheets of drywall, with the tailgate closed (guy at HD was amazed) and it didn't squat and it towed a 8k pound mini excavator just fine.
