Did some range time today.

So I finally went to the range today and even did some short game practice. I've had some lessons and watched more vids, in particular Mike Malaska, Athletic Motion Golf and Overhand's Golf "Holy Grail." Here are some observations:
1. Distance has gone up for longer clubs.
2. Distance is the same for short clubs and wedges.
3. My instructor has told me to get a 7W and said it's pretty easy to hit. And it mostly is. I place the ball like a hybrid, just forward of the middle of my stance.
4. My other woods are harder to hit now. I think this might be due to that I'm teeing them further forward and not as high as before. Same for my driver. Oddly enough, my driver was always the easiest club for me to hit.
5. TONS of short game practice. My best chipping club is my PW. The SW isn't, unless I'm' doing hinge-and-hold. And sand traps don't scare me anymore.
What made the difference in all my lessons, in-person or via vids, is:
1. No more crazy hip action. Everything I read said "gotta have a lateral shift." My instructor pointed out that was what's ruining me. It happens naturally.
2. Let the club break the wrists, instead of casting on purpose. This added sooo much distance.
The next goal will to be go back to the range and get the distances of my clubs. My laser rangefinder ran out of batteries halfway through practice.

Good job man. Keep practicing. You shouldn't be teeing it up high if you are hitting a wood.

I'm a "Tee it high and let it fly" type of guy. 60% of the time it works every time.

. It happens naturally
For me, on my best shots, I think about nothing and just let it happen.
On my bad swings, my mind rattles all over the place.
The more I can eliminate tension both physical and mental, the freer my swing becomes.
Less is more. No try. Just do.

It's like you have to unlearn golf more than learning it.

Are you in the BR area? If so, Who is your instructor?

No, I'm in NOLA. Buddy Reno is my instructor.
