Javel James, 42, was arrested Thursday in Brooklyn for allegedly punching the 56-year-old victim as he entered the F train station at East Broadway and Rutgers Street around 8:50 p.m. March 2, police said.
James continued beating the victim even after he fell to the ground and hit his head, police said.
The victim was left unconscious with a cut on his lip, a black eye and swelling to his head, authorities said.
James, of Queens, was charged with assault, police said. He did not immediately face a hate crime charge.
The attack came amid a wave of attacks on Asian victims across the city and elsewhere.
