Also, if you like the sound of the sitar, Ravi Shankar is one of the most famous musicians on the instrument. He taught George Harrison how to play it. If you like the sound of the tablas, the drums that have strings attached to the drum heads that allow the drummer to manipulate the tension while they’re playing, Zakir Hussain is a master. He did some work with Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead. This also isn’t pop but this whole album is great:
