Wade has a lot of decisions to make next year for the team.
Last year Days was an absolutely pivotal player because we only had 4 guys who could really do anything on offense. However, his size was absolutely a factor in our defensive ineptitude down low. Everyone here knows Reid is a stud. Eason seems like he could have a breakout year. A player like Alex Fudge is 6’9 and long and a freak athlete. Darius Days is coming back but I cannot imagine how Days gets 30 minutes per game like last year.
I think this is the right move for Days to get his degree and it’s great for our team, it gives us another weapon. I just can’t see him getting a better opportunity than he did last year to showcase his skills. We were forced to live with games where he was 1 for 9 and got crushed on defense, we don’t have to live with that this year. I’m really really curious how this team and the minutes will shake out.

Days was BY FAR the best rebounder on the team last year and would be the best rebounder on next year's team as well. Reid is a skilled young big man. But he's not a great rebounder relative to his size. Eason is a Emmitt Williams type of player. He'll rebound. He'll play hard defensively. He can occasionally make a 3 and will get some garbage buckets offensively. But he's not a great offensive player or someone who you run an offense through.
Days would be LSU's best returning 3 point shooter. He could help stretch the floor and create spacing which is CRITICAL to what Wade wants. Is he great defensively? No. But NO ONE has been under Wade. He just doesn't place a ton of emphasis on the defensive end (not matter what he says).

Probably not. But there is still an "unknown" factor when it comes to Pinson and Miller in an LSU uniform. It could be that Days emerges as a bigger option if those two guys aren't as great a scorers as we expect. He was the most efficient offensive player in the SEC the last two years. He took a backseat to three other guys who needed the ball in their hands to create offense on their own (Smart, Thomas, Watford). But that doesn't mean he can't play or score. The ONLY reason his total scoring numbers were higher is because he took less shots than Thomas, Smart, Watford.

The ENTIRE starting line up (except, at times, for Wilkinson and Hyatt) were terrible defenders. It wasn't just Days. LSU lost the games when he didn't score...but it wasn't simply because Days struggled on defense
