The things I like about Vitello are that he is fairly young and that he is a fireball. LSU baseball is badly in need of passion.
Also a much bigger risk than other candidates out there.
It'd be like Kentucky hiring Will Wade after 3 seasons at LSU. I don't think they'd do that.
I wouldn't freak out about Vitello, he could be incredible, but it is definitely risky. He has 3 years as a head coach of an underdog mindset program. We are a different animal.
We also don't know how he'll do with longer term roster management or staff selections. Things that create consistent top 5 programs.

He was partially responsible for TCU and Arkansas recent runs.....I’d say he has an idea about building a roster

He has a pretty incredible network of coaches he's worked with or played with or knows from the recruiting trail.
He was a candidate at Mizzou when they hired their current guy. His pitching coach would have been Matt Hobbs (Arkansas pitching coach, on Tony's rec), and his other assistant would have been Jayce Tingler (Padres manager). They were all teammates at Mizzou.
He hired Frank Anderson because they built a relationship on the recruiting trail when they were both going after Kevin Kopps.
He also has a ton of connections in athletic departments around the country because the time he spent as a player and assistant coach at Mizzou spawned a ton of athletic directors and assistant athletic directors all over the country (not dissimilar to our run that produce Woodward and Radokovich, etc).
He will be fine building a staff.

I want Vitello. He provides an immediate shock to the complacency
