I think it's more that we know that Flash's movie will be Flashpoint (I personally think a movie like that should occur after a more established universe, but whatever) and therefor it's an "anything goes" type of universe.

Martian Manhunter is an evil white Martian? Why not. (And before anyone screams "white = evil is woke", please read the damn storylines from the 90s)

They already did this with Ms. Martian on the CW show before that show got just absolutely awful.
