And the schools are doing it too.Currently, I’m seeing a lot “my child read a million words” . I’m seeing such signs as that on front lawns in neighborhoods. And one school’s marquee was congratulating all of their “million word readers”. I don’t think it’s a good theme, to focus on the number of words a child has read. I can imagine kids speed reading through a book, just to increase their word count or whatever and maybe surpass another classmate, and possibly they don’t absorb the proper level of enjoyment or enrichment from the story they’re reading. It becomes all about reaching a number. ( and I haven’t seen the “Read” sticker here in Lafayette, but my liberal sister has the cringy “Coexist “ sticker on her car, plus a BLM yard sign that says “Hate has no home here”. Yeah, right. LOL. She hates Trump, hates conservatives, hates white guys.

I hear you. I honestly wish I could UN-read about 80% of the garbage I was required to read in schools.

Reading on its own isnt some kind of key to enlightenment. Not to mention that the majority of “writers” are mentally ill and of the commie tilt. Just like in any other area of the arts.
