I’ve been told by the OT Lefties that the additional unemployment payments have NOTHING to do with businesses of all sizes struggling to hire people and keep staff.

Not a lefty.
Businesses are not paying enough to get reliable employees. The market rate is MUCH higher than what places are starting at. An unskilled person with a car can make $30/hr in the gig economy, why would they take a crappy $10/hr job??
Money is worth less, much less, than it was 18 months ago, nobody disputes that but people put their head in the sand when it comes to paying more for labor.
Everyone is paying more for cars, houses, lumber, food, etc. Labor has to go up to make it worth it for people to work.
