What’s in store for your sons

I co-sign this from a colleague at Bucknell.
I have been a professor at Bucknell University for twenty years, and alas, I find myself singing that tune with new lyrics: “Mammas don’t let your (male) babies grow up to attend a woke liberal arts college.” It is my considered view that a parent with the best interests of a male child at heart should be intensely concerned about what he is likely to experience at a school like the one in which I work.
I have heard people in important positions in my university talk unguardedly (they believe that everyone shares their perspective) with disdain for white male students who are universally assumed to benefit from “privilege” and harbor racist sentiments.
The men in the class sit quietly and look around the room uncomfortably, hoping no one will ask what they think about the matter. I often hear from them via email or in office hours, during which they are careful to ask me to close my door so their candid thoughts will not reach the ears of my colleagues in the hall.
I wonder, as I talk with these young men, how any loving parent can imagine that this kind of environment is best for their sons.

Where can young white men get a good college education without systemic racism flowing through the veins of these woke colleges?

I was thinking he was going to sing "Mama don't let your sons grow up to be daughters". Would apply here.

There are some very good colleges that do not embrace this crap.
Unfortunately they don’t always have good football teams.
I’ve talked about my daughter at Georgia Tech. The woke crowd has a presence, but it’s not dominant and it’s not in her classroom.
I’ve heard good things about USL, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Troy, South Alabama, and smaller schools like Ouachita, Belhaven, Samford in our neck of the woods. Again, not perfect but that crap doesn’t dominate campus.

My son is at LSU right now. LSU is still safe as long as you are a STEM major. But outside of STEM classes my son reports the woke scene is pretty strong. For example in English Composition my son wrote on "women's issues" for every essay and received an A+. He believes the teacher didn't read all his essays and just gave him an A based on the topics selected. He is conservative AF but just played the game for the grade.

That’s how you do it. 25 years ago I had a professor at LSU who was a CNN contributor on white privilege. Beta white male.
My papers were total bull shite.

I think there are a few, but thankfully there are still schools where the makeup of the student body/town prevents the inmates from truly running the asylum.
For example, a well-grounded guy, maybe in a fraternity or whatever, who does political science or history at Auburn or A&M or even UGA is going to be fine. Yes, you may be on the opposite end as your professor and half the students in your course, but there is enough support there for you to avoid indoctrination and probably avoid having your performance tanked. You'll have to fight a bit and perhaps make a few calculated decisions if you take some of the edgier courses, but you'll be fine.
You still shouldn't have to battle it out for an education you're paying for, but you're not going to be shouted down by the masses outside of your dorm room for a comment you made in class like you will in comparably large/big name institutions.

Mine is in Washington state. Could care less about politics or if the sun sets or rises. He has a good job, parties with hot chicks and stays outdoors a lot. That's all I have for my one son.

Really disappointed by what I hear about LSU. I know the BLM support was really to appease the football team/recruits. But it sucks to hear how woke the university itself has gotten. When I was at LSU 1998-2002 the leftists were the fringe kids who dressed sloppy but were alright. The student body generally seemed conservative or apolitical. The Greeks especially. The administration to me didn’t seem political either although I was young and probably oblivious. My concerns back then centered on getting pussy and getting drunk.
