I am just curious as to why though? There are 162 games...why are you against playing every team in MLB? Give the fans new experiences...new stadiums...new cities to explore. I 10000% agree with you when it comes to marketing and promotion...MLB is the absolute bottom feeder when it comes to that...even below NHL and MLS.

Part of it is as a purist, not everything needs to change for the sake of changing. MLB still allows team's to play each other over the course of 3 years, right now playing 18 against division rivals is just better. I want to see the Yankees play more games against Tampa, Red Sox, O's, and Jays than I do against Pirates, Rockies, Mets, etc...
It separates who really is the best team is in each league and division IMO then the postseason (I'm not a fan of WC or 2nd WC) should be about putting the beat vs the best and seeing which league is superior in the World Series.
