“Essentials” for the game Saturday

Let’s put this in perspective
I have noticed in several posts re the game this Saturday that many fans think that what we have enjoyed these past years are “essential” for a game at Tiger Stadium. These include plentiful restaurants, gas stations, tailgating, and tailgating supplies near campus.
When I started attending games in the late 1950s, Tiger Town was basically West Chimes, 100 feet down East Chimes and a couple of blocks up Highland. It didn’t change much in the early 1960s. The closest bars were exactly 1 mile up Highland as per state law. I do not remember any gas stations and only one small store. Highland south of campus had a small grocery and gas station. Nicholson was a residential street all the way to campus.
There was no tailgating!
Anyone who was there those years knows what a great experience a game at Tiger Stadium was.
The one essential that has changed is the greater number of fans in TS (too obvious not to mention) and the need for a greater number of police for traffic control and security.
If all we have this weekend is “just” a football game on our home turf – I’m one damned happy Tiger. :jump1: :jump2:

What about the Albertsons on Burbank and Bluebonnet (I think)? That's where we usually stop on our way in to beer and ice up.

They are open too, however they start blocking people from entering the store at 7pm. I witnessed a woman in tears yesterday when told she couldnt enter
Both are jam packed and food is spotty at best
