Laptop recommendations for undergrad engineering

My son will be a freshman this fall. We have the required specs, looking for recommendations on brands and 16 vs 32 gb ram. Thanks

The brand really doesn't matter much. The specs matter.

I'll stay out of the specs game, but I'll tell you that Costco usually has some pretty smoking deals online. Many of the outgoing models can go for $500 off.

Today’s kids want a 13” screen. They hated the 15”’ones I got them to start since they lug them everywhere and prefer the smaller footprint.
They also wished I didn’t get the ungraded batteries because the extra weight.
