He’s going to be a big time coach in the nfl one day I think. Very intelligent dude with his own skins on the wall as a player.

Listened to both Carters and Daronte Jones podcast. I love that they are just both really cerebral guys that have a wide breadth of interests. Daronte talked about his love of traveling the world, different books he liked, and Bourbon. Carter studying french, sudoku puzzles, and the piano. Who wouldn't want their son to play for guys like this?

While I get where you're coming from, having a personality in college football is vital for assistant coaches. You can't recruit studs if you can't build relationships and by them being interesting men, it helps on the trail.

What did Nick Saban having LSU do karate have to do with football?
I’m all for having some brains to go with the muscle on these dudes, players respond well to different motivational tactics, not just the rah rah muh tackle muh football coaches.
You’re probably stupid if I had to guess.

quote:The true job of coaching is relating to people. If you can't relate to people, you can't communicate X&O's. If you can't relate to people, you can't effectively teach. If you can't relate to people, you can't motivate them.

Having breadth of experience, for lack of a better term, helps you relate to a wide breadth of people.
Furthermore, if you are just a clone of the people from the neighborhood with the same experiences, and limited to those same or similar experiences, as a coach you are less likely to foster the trust necessary, especially at the college level, to be the most effective in relating to your players.
