We have to completely ban gain of function research worldwide and massive sanctions should be put on countries we find out that are doing it. We’re gambling with the apocalypse here and it’s far more terrifying and realistic than nuclear holocaust.

This virus also should have taught us we need to massively invest in space exploration. We need to get humanity as a multiplanet and interstellar species as soon as possible. It may be too late honestly. In a decade or so all it will take is for one lunatic to find the genetic code of a horrifically deadly and contagious virus, 3D print it and infect himself, and then go out and infect everyone else.

If there’s a virus that was as deadly as the Bubonic Plague that wipes out 30-60% of those infected with it, then the electrical grid will shut down, we enter a dark age, and then billions of people who survived the virus would die from there. We need to start planning now. I don’t give a shite if we have problems today, they’re a hell of a lot smaller than the problems I’m talking about.
