The struggle continues, and is definitely real. I had a shot land in the rock bed behind the green today and took relief without a penalty. The rock bed looked something like this:

Should I have taken a penalty? I'm reading up on loose impediments and assume this would fall under that category?

If you have to pay for your own clubs just move the ball.

There are rules that prevent injury.

Bee hives, alligators, snakes etc..

Pretty sure this would fall under Rule #8 and give you a free drop.

In addition, I would assume that there is a local rule that would apply.

this is why you read the back of a scorecard.

It depends on how it’s classified. You do get relief from a rock path, but not a dirt one. You club should prob have a local rule regarding rock beds like this.

You definitely take a penalty for dropping from that (if you’re interested in keeping an honest score).

It’s obviously not a path. It just a rock bed decorative landscape.

As someone who cares about the quality of his clubs, I’m never hitting out of that. BUT, you obviously take the penalty stroke every single time.

Not even a question IMO

Well that can be your opinion all you want but it absolutely boils down to whether or not there's a local rule

Bummer, that puts me at 90 for the round.
