It's "groveling" and no one is doing that. People are just happy LSU won and acknowledge that 1500 wins is a significant accomplishment. Posters aren't saying Paul should return next year.
Reading comprehension is a skill best learned by competent, intelligent people. Constant criticizing of people more successful than you is the occupation of small minds. Most of us have expressed the need for Paul to retire. Burning your neighbor's house down doesn't make yours look better. Let it be, and let him retire.
