Had a guy join our department last year and he kept referring to his partner when we interviewed him and since in all discussions.
I assumed he was gay based on that, but I don’t act any differently around gay people so no biggie. Blew my mind when he mentioned her name months later and I was like “what?” She is also his fiancée, so I am not sure why he would not just call her that.

I just don't like that word. When I hear it, it makes me want to go Dr. Laura on the person I'm talking to and ask for a ring and a date.
