Didn't move too fast and when all of the olds would get together it was a bit of an ordeal but it moved them safely. These stairs are about 5' wide on both runs so with the seats flipped up they weren't too noticeable even though they didn't blend with the style of stairs. After a while you just didn't notice them until you used them or a grand/great grandkid started messing with them.

Some friends of my parents had an elevator in their house when I was a kid back in the 70’s.

Only went up 1 floor but it was cool as hell riding that thing as a kid.

This was in Mamou of all places.
