Michael Ford had 29 yards in the 1st half, but ended up with 180 yards. West Monroe's LaDarius Abrams had 158 yards.

No. Walked down from behind by Tyler Glenn and pushed out of bounds at the 7 yd line after a 85 yd run. Two plays later Leesville fumbled and WM picked it up and returned it 80 yards for the score.

Not an accident, Glenn can fly. Ran the hundred for WM and had somewhat comparable times to Ford. That was late in the 3rd though and Ford had worked his arse off all night. No disrespect to Ford at all. The kid is great, just didn't have alot of room all night except for that play.

Very sloppy. Five fumbles...four of them on pitches out of the option. Banks has trouble with the option offense. Had room up the middle all night, but things went to hell when he pulled it.

There was no angle...and there's no argument there. I love Ford; he is an absolute beast, but I stated in my earlier post why I think he was caught. But there wasn't an angle. You could see Glynn closing from directly behind him.

They're ranked #4 in 4A. That's not high?????????

Thoughts on the game:

Stallworth>>>>>>Banks at QB. He looked very good all night, very elusive. The thing is, I just don't see this kid making it in the SEC. He RAN from contact all night. When I say that I mean he stopped and ran sideways to get out of bounds to avoid being hit. Doesn't seem physical enough to play WR for Auburn. Great athlete though.

Ford is all he is billed to be and yes the questions about his speed are justified. He is a LOAD to bring down and is an amazing back. Glynn walked him down from behind.

Mingo will lose his 4th star without question imo. He is not a safety and is being forced to play there. He is being completely wasted by WM and it's painstakingly obvious.

Banks looked really, really bad the entire night missing wide open receivers, misreading the option, just not a strong effort from him at all. I have been very excited to see him play in this offense and he's not even close to being ready yet. That can change by playoff time and the offense can be clicking.

Now let's get into the game. It was pretty much just what I expected. It was a very, very sloppy game by both teams. I anticipated this since they were out of school all week, some without power at home. It was one of those games where either team could've won by 4 touchdowns and they would've been deserving. Leesville fumbled the ball 3 times inside the 10 yard line. They very easily could've won this game. West Monroe had to have over 100 yards of penalties in the first half alone to go along with the fumbles.

WM shut Leesville down 3 and out. Walked down the field in 3 plays on fullback dives with Abrams for the first score. They shut them down again and walked down the field again for 14-0. Then they went to the spread offense and abandoned the option for the rest of the half. They looked bad, really bad in this formation. Leesville had a drive of around 80 yards with atleast 50 yards coming on WM penalties. They then caught a jump ball for the touchdown, very nice play. 14-7 at the half. Ford gets loose for an 80+ yard run with Glynn catching him at the 7. Stallworth fumbles on 3rd down and WM takes it all the way back for the score. THIS IS WHERE THE MOST IMPRESSIVE PLAY OF THE NIGHT CAME FROM. MINGO WAS AT SAFETY, ATLEAST 20 YARDS BEHIND THE PLAY WHEN THE BALL WAS FUMBLED. HE RAN PAST EVERYONE AND WALKED IN WITH THE BALL CARRIER FOR THE TOUCHDOWN. That just made me shake my head and wonder why this kid wasn't being used as a speed rusher. WM tacked on a score with about 4 minutes left in the game.

If Leesville actually ran a single play under center, they could've won this game. Running out of the shotgun on the 2 yard line is DUMB. Go under center and hand the ball to Ford 4 times if needed and score!!!!!

There was no angle. Glynn is just faster than Ford. He should be though as he's much lighter. Ford has to have him by 20-30lbs.

Very, very good post JJ. I would also add that Leesville's o-line is awful. I at times felt really sorry for Stallworth and Ford.

You are right on target about the offense and our inability to run the spread. We need to keep Abrams at fullback, just like I said after the Jamboree, and stay with the option.

Specific stats:

West Monroe-SHITLOAD of penalties/fumbles
Leesville-Dumb for not running under center inside the 10.

That pretty much sums up this game. Leesville could've won the game easily. West Monroe could've won the game by 50. Very sloppy...

Honestly Ford had 1 long run where he got ran down from behind. He had 2-3 runs of about 10-15 yards on draws. Besides that he probably had 20+ carries where he lost yardage or got 1-2. If he had 180, he had 30+ carries. They gave him the ball EVERY PLAY almost in the first half.
