If so, wouldn’t something have been said by now?

Why retire when you have two years left in your contract where you’re owed money

If he doesn’t I’ll say it.

He's going to retire because he can't hardly turn his head he's in so much pain. Like when he goes to take a pitcher out, he won't even look at the bullpen.
It's not a money issue. He will be moved over to TAF, per the agreement I heard.
He will not be the coach next year.

Should he, absolutely.
Will he, I have my doubts. Pride is a powerful and most times a blinding thing.

Here's some stuff from The Advocate about his surgery last year...
I would say he's experiencing the same thing now or maybe even worse.
quote:
Coach Paul Mainieri watched Game 1 of LSU's Purple-Gold World Series from the press box to isolate himself from possible coronavirus exposure before undergoing his second neck surgery in less than a year.
Mainieri will have a fusion of the C4 and C5 vertebrae Nov. 16 as he tries to alleviate pain that has bothered him for two years and intensified in the last three months.
"I can’t continue this way," Mainieri said Wednesday night. "I have to have this surgery."
The initial pain appeared late in the summer of 2018. He lived with increasing discomfort throughout the 2019 season, placing his hands on either side of his neck to support it during games. He felt miserable in the dugout.
quote:
Mainieri had surgery last December to insert a prosthetic disc between his C5 and C6 vertebrae. The procedure, done by one of Mainieri's former players at Notre Dame, temporarily alleviated the pain in Mainieri's neck.
"It continued to get worse," Mainieri said. "I don’t have any choice."
I would say he's experiencing the same thing now or maybe even worse.

No.
He’ll be fired, as he should be.

No-Unfortunately, he’s not going anywhere !

No, I think he’s gonna pull off a miracle and win the regional and then get carried off the field similar to Les Mile. Then get fired after the first SEC series.
The hitting coach will be placed as interim and he will rally the team just enough to get out in the running for the permanent HC job. After we strike out on our first few options, we will hire the hitting coach who will take a transfer from the big 10 that will lead us to a NC!!!!
