How does he know that exactly? The CDC did not report seasonal flu deaths this past season. They put out a memo that they didn't have the time to count those numbers because of their time spent on the covid numbers.

This is a very good point. Fauci wants to have it both ways and there is a serious flaw in his thinking here.
If the masks and other forms of NPI are to be credited with the virtual absence of a flu season, then this proves just how ineffective these practices were for COVID. Flu is the positive control in the experiment. It went down while COVID went up.
Put another way, if flu season didn't happen because of our NPI, why did the nationwide COVID surge occur in December and January? Why was there a surge in Michigan in April?
