Is anyone surprised by this? Sure the real reason might be something normal, but how often can we hear this stuff before a lot of it actually turns out true? I know studios are very deliberate in showing their commitment to identity politics.

I'm curious how long they'll do this.

theyll do it until it starts affecting viewership and earnings. the thing is well all probably watch the next thing despite wokeness. has marvel gotten too big to fail?

It's gotten big enough to pluck obscure side characters out of the pages of comic books past and give first time directors a huge audience. Who knows if there is a bubble.

May be showing my ignorance here, but I think it's kind of unprecedented to successfully adapt such a large character universe through multiple mediums and platforms.

No they can certainly still fail. It may not be catastrophic, but they can wilt and die. Right now the machine is rolling along mostly because they continue to put out decent watchable popcorn flicks. If they go full woke and start writing nonsense just to prove their wokeness. People will stop watching.

It would take time, but it can obviously degrade and eventually fail.

Star Wars should have still been what Marvel replaced them as being. The world's dominant fantasy IP.
