1. New England: Cam Newton & Mac Jones (1st)
2. Miami: Tua Tagovailoa (1st)
3. Buffalo: Josh Allen (1st)
4. NY Jets: Zach Wilson (1st)

1. Pittsburgh: Ben Rothelisberger (1st)
2. Cincinnati: Joe Burrow (1st)
3. Cleveland: Baker Mayfield (1st)
4. Baltimore: Lamar Jackson (1st)

1. LAC: Justin Hebert (1st)
2. Kansas City: Patrick Mahomes (1st)
3. Las Vegas: Derek Carr (2nd)
4. Denver: Drew Lock (2nd)

1. Indianapolis: Carson Wentz (1st)
2. Houston: Deshaun Watson (1st) (for now) (Davis Mills 3rd)
3. Jacksonville: Trevor Lawrence (1st)
4. Tennessee: Ryan Tannehill (1st)

1. Dallas: Dak Prescott (4th)
2. Washington: shite-show at the QB position since Cousins left.
3. NYG: David Jones (1st)
4. Philadelphia: Jalen Hurts (2nd)

1. New Orleans: Jameis Winston (1st)
2. Carolina: Sam Darnold (1st)
3. Atlanta: Matt Ryan (1st)
4. Tampa Bay: Tom Brady (6th)* (Kyle Trask 2nd)

1. Green Bay: Aaron Rodgers (1st)
2. Detroit: Jared Goff (1st)
3. Chicago: Justin Fields (1st)
4. Minnesota: Kirk Cousins (4th)

1. LAR: Matt Stafford (1st)
2. Seattle: Russell Wilson (3rd)
3. San Fran: Jimmy Garoppolo (2nd)
4. Arizona: Kyler Murray (1st)

So, other than 4 starting QBs, every NFL team's current QB was drafted in the 2nd round or higher.

Washington has struck out on a couple of 1st round picks, but, for the most part, if you aren't drafting (or signing a FA or trading for) a QB who was drafted in the 1st or 2nd, you will be stuck in mediocrity at the QB position.

I remember early where there was an ugly stretches of 1st rd QBs taken. Dan McGwire, David Klingler, Jeff George, Tommy Maddox, Rick Mirer, Todd Marinovich, Heath Shuler.

This is a function of the increased importance of QB relative to other positions on the team.

The absolute best stud Safety in the country might go top of Round 2.

The most mediocre POS QB could go end of round 1 if a team needs one.

If all the QBs get drafted in rounds 1-2 instead of 1-7 it doesn't mean they're better players or better scouted, just that teams have to have them, even a bad one, more than any other position.

Counter to this would be everyone drafts a QB in the first round regardless of talent.

No way he lasts to the third in today's draft?

The thing was his height as I recall. Never mind that he played behind a UW line that averaged something like 6'4".

That is too simplistic of a comparison. There is a much broader gap between #1 & #32 in the first round, than there is with #32 in the 1st round and #1 in the 2nd round.

List the drafted QBs by their picked number instead:

LAR: Matt Stafford #1
Detroit: Jared Goff #1
Cleveland: Baker Mayfield #1
Jacksonville: Trevor Lawrence #1
Cincinnati: Joe Burrow #1
Arizona: Kyler Murray #1
New England: Cam Newton #1 & Mac Jones #15
New Orleans: Jameis Winston #1 & Taysom Hill und

Indianapolis: Carson Wentz #2
NY Jets: Zach Wilson #2
Atlanta: Matt Ryan #3
Carolina: Sam Darnold #3
Miami: Tua Tagovailoa #5

LAC: Justin Hebert #6
NYG: Daniel Jones #6
Buffalo: Josh Allen #7
Tennessee: Ryan Tannehill #8
Kansas City: Patrick Mahomes #10

Pittsburgh: Ben Rothelisberger #11
Houston: Deshaun Watson #12 & Davis Mills #67
Green Bay: Aaron Rodgers #24
Baltimore: Lamar Jackson #32

Chicago: Andy Dalton #35 & Justin Fields #11
Las Vegas: Derek Carr #36
Denver: Drew Lock #42
Philadelphia: Jalen Hurts #53
San Fran: Jimmy Garoppolo #62 & Trey Lance #3

Seattle: Russell Wilson #75
Minnesota: Kirk Cousins #102
Dallas: Dak Prescott #135
Tampa Bay: Tom Brady #199
Washington: Ryan Fitzpatrick #250

I would like to see this for all the positions.

Solid thread here.
