I wonder what the legality in Baton Rouge would be? I’ve searched online but could really find anything besides call your local municipality.

Not to act like an outlaw here, but why are you so worried about lawfulness? It’s essentially silent. And if you practice enough, theoretically you won’t miss your target. And if you do, take these backstop safety measures mentioned above.
