He can see it. The addiction is more important to him. He won’t be helped until he wants help.

This is it. Unfortunately an addict can’t be helped until they want help. You can want it for them until the end of time, but until they want to help themselves, you’re wasting your time. I’m an alcoholic. My wife and parents wanted me to be sober a very long time before I wanted to be sober. In the short term, I could “control myself”, but I’d always go back for a drink days or weeks later. I had to want to be sober to put any significant amount of sober time together. Pray for him. Talk to him. Urge him to seek counseling. That’s about all you can do until he realizes he has a problem.
