Incorrect. Proper connections were made back in the 1960s and 70s. They failed.

My home was built in 1970 and is entirely aluminum wiring. Will change out wiring when I reno parts of the house but am not going to rewire the entire house.

They aren't proper now. What's proper now is using the correct modern connectors. And with the proper connectors there is no reason to rip out all of the wiring like the poster I was replying to stated.
