If you had said 25 years, sure. But five?!

You can’t compare Kobe to Dr. J. Once Dr. J stopped playing, he was essentially gone. But YouTube and highlights allow for younger fans to watch Kobe like fans before them never had an opportunity to with stars of yesteryear. Plus the popularity of the game is so much bigger now than it was then.

And, Dr. J was 10x's the man and role model than Kobe ever was. A true gentleman. And still is.

Do you actually believe this? TV viewership today is a mere fragment of the audience size in the 80's and 90's. It is nowhere even close. We have a much larger population, and the NBA has a much smaller audience.
