I'm not saying that what they did should be acceptable, per se. I am saying that this was used as justification to make a giant power play that was in no way reciprocal. This entire thing has been used as political fodder that will absolutely result in some very, very draconian legislation in the near future. It also gave the media and social media companies carte blanche to censor anything and everything while promoting a certain radical brand of politics that they've normalized every day since.
