We’re looking at a possible Peterson, Clairborne, Mathieu situation with Sting, Ricks, and McGlothern. The safeties also looked great today between Ward and Toles. Throw in Sage Ryan and we’re looking extremely nasty boys. DBU is back!
If Flott can get heathy and regain his freshman form, he can be the Ron Brooks of the group.

Having a secondary coach as the DC helps for sure. Corey Raymond isn’t pulling his beard hair out

Hopefully we can generate consistent pressure with just the front 4
If the LBs can help create tight windows inside I feel really good about Stingley and Ricks on the outside and the safeties look to be better in coverage from what we were able to see today

Flott is the absolute worst CB in the damn conference. His ability or inability to cover is comical. Hopefully the new coaches are smart enough to make him a thing of the past

The big question for the corners and safeties is if they can stay healthy.

DMG looked like he had that DBU get in your face attitude. Alpha. Love seeing it

How did the defense look scheme-wise? Lots of improvement from last year?

Basic pro-style 4-3
Cover 1, 2, 3, 4. Didn’t see any 0 blitzes.
Mostly cover 1 and 3
DBs were playing with wreckless abandon and having fun.

For as skinny as he is, Flott is really good in run support.

Yes he congratulated Raydar on his interception of Finley.

I’m telling y’all, you’re taking the cheese on McGlothern. He has good physical cover skills, but he just can’t run with fast receivers. At least he couldn’t last year, and I haven’t heard anything about him having been slowed by an injury. I think he’s a 4.7 40 corner, and those have a short life in the SEC.

Mac has come a long way since Ole Miss.
Amazing what happens when talent meets good coaching.
