Brennan is in year 5 and still can’t separate
This is the way I view it, to be honest.

If Brennan wins the job, I want him to be significantly better than Johnson doing so. If it's a tossup, I want the guy with room to grow and mature.

I didn't get a chance to watch the whole thing, but I wasn't very impressed with Brennan when I saw him. That TD was kinda flukish, the defender was playing it to be about 5 yds deeper than it was- and it was on a gimmick "fake kneel" play to begin with. If they call some of those 'sacks' I saw in the 1st half, they should call Brennan squatting the same way.

Add in, Brennan admitted last year that he learns way more on the field, not as much in film study.

That's a problem. He's in his 5th year, with relatively little snaps/little on-field experience.

Now take Joe Burrow, who had the Bengals playbook/reads/progressions down, in one month, over zoom meetings and was ready for camp to make muscle memory/timing with WRs. He wasn't learning reads/progressions on the field.
