Per dandy site

quote:

• Defensive tackle Joe Evans had another dominant scrimmage last Saturday, and Orgeron hopes to see him “show out” this Saturday. Again, he said Evans was “probably our best interior defensive linemen.” Neil Farrell is playing his best ball, and senior Soni Fonua had a good scrimmage last week.

Just want to flash back to a thing or five:

1. Back in High School, he was known to “live in the backfield” of almost every game he played. (That was a description of him on this recruiting board)

B. It was also noted that he did it against smaller-school competition. And that is in fact, a fair statement.

@- Then he became a.......yes, a.freshman in the SEC; the world’s most dominant conference in sports history, or the Fedor Emalienenko of conferences.

4. He then was screenshotted on this forum taking an in-game verbal rundown from Pelini (anyone remember that?). Evan’s had a wtf look on his face.

E. Now he’s here and we all have to remember how hard it is to start or even contribute as a True Frosh in this league.

Evans and all the DL for that matter looked really good in the drills posted from practice yesterday. They were in good shape

Wasn't he originally on the O-Line but converted to the D-Line?

Whatever Shrimpboat does, a repeat of 2020 cannot happen. And, with a couple of years remaining on his contract, he may take the money and RUN!

All this talk and attention-seeking-hyperbole by Orgeron, take it with a grain of salt. He keeps putting himself in a corner and it may be a con, a springboard to leap away with a fistful if $’s!! You rise from the wafting miasma of politics, your time is limited by that beast!!!

Sorta heavily implied here.

Not super relevant otherwise.

I’ll say this. I wasnt super Impressed last year. But physically he looks like a different player this year.

He was recruited to play D-line, was switched to O-Line, and then switched back to D-Line.

He was not built like Dorsey last year.

Like I said. He’s looking good in spring. If he plays well I wouldn’t be surprised.

I’m just tired of pretending Logan and Ferrell are our best options.

Well truthfully, he was. They're the same height and Evans is actually a bit heavier than Dorsey was.

There is more to build than height and weight.

The Evans-Roy pairing was a bright spot on defense last year. The defensive front 7 often looked better and more disruptive when they rotated in for a series.

I noticed them flash early in the season a few times, and I began looking forward to when they entered a game, so my viewpoint might be a little biased.

However, I never saw a noticeable drop off when they were in the game.
