Yet not every incident of resisting leads to death.
There are over 3 million cop/citizen encounters a day, with amazingly low death or injury rates.
Police violence isn't one of the most pressing issues of our day.

While I generally agree statistically speaking
; cops are citizens as well, and this cop/citizen terminology divide goes to a heart of one of the problems, which is the relationship dynamic between law-enforcement and the people they interact with.
Part of the problem in my eye is this separation into these artificial classes. Law enforcement officers often DO view themselves as being separate and of a higher station, and this is a problem because I believe that it can lead to a lack of respect and/or empathy for the people they interact with, which CAN lead to unnecessary escalation and outcomes.
I’m not saying we ought to replace police with social workers, and criminals will be criminals, but not being a trigger-happy prick would go a long way, and there really must be a way to weed these personality types out. And this is coming from someone who generally holds law-enforcement in a positive light, understanding it to be necessary to help maintain a safe and civil society.
