A few years ago I found out 110 in BR is also racist. Elevated highways seem to be more racist than surface level highways. I guess it’s the way they were raised.

A surface highway will divide neighborhoods more than a raised highway. What is wrong with these people?

I remember years back OweO said I-110 was racist because it was built to divide the white and the black neighborhoods.

Which anyone with even a passing memory of the demographics knows that’s just utter bullshite.

And how the frick does destroying infrastructure do ANY good whatsoever?

frick Pedo Joe, frick New Orleans, frick the politicians, frick the corruption.

All punny-ness aside, it's funny how the overpass area along Perkins in Baton Rouge thrives while others seem to be be a source of blight.

I have no doubt that 1960's era NOLA road planners were more likely to choose black neighborhoods for projects requiring imminent domain. It was the sad state of affairs back then, but tearing down that road now makes little sense.

Use federal funds to fix the poor drainage system, and hell start in historic black neighborhoods as a sign of goodwill.

I have a hard time with arguments against gentrification they always seem to ignore progress. No one likes blight in once prominent neighborhoods, but you never hear about urban decline being met with the same level of vitriol.
