Did Scott demonstrate the ability to get the tough yards?

And he managed to break off a couple of 20 yard runs in the same game. He also maintained a 10.0 yard average. Will he surpass the great hester rushing yardage this year?

I think that Scott has all the potential to make or break hesters acheivements this year I saw him make some really big hits and on top of that imo i think he might be faster than hester but hester is awesome i played against the guy in high school we lived in the same city sport

Scott will get 1200 yards this year.

I applaud hester for breaking long held stereotypes and opening up the door for other non-traditional rb's. Heck, even south carolina started the game with a non-traditional rb. Hester is the man.

I don't think anybody that saw Hester in high school was that shocked by how good of a career he had at LSU. He was one of the best high school football players I've ever seen, and he did it in the highest classification.

It's okay to say white rb.

none of the RBs did.
app st is small and soft...cant really judge the RBs toughness.

I went to West Monroe(way older than Hester, though) and got to watch him pretty much dominate probably the most physical team in the state. He was very, very impressive.

I remember reading about hester rushing for 250 yards and all. Even though i hate anyone or thing coming from evangel, I have to give props to hester. He has brought so much publicity to shreveport it is ridiculous. I went to captain shreve so you see why i despise all the success evangel had.

I guess the question is did Scott pick up any yards that our other backs would not have given the exact same play? I dont think so. but i agree with him starting.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Evangel either, but it only took one game for me to become a Hester fan.

Maybe not this game but last year he definitely did.
Also Scott and Hester are not the exact same type of runner. While both are bigger RB's for the college game, Scott will look for angles to force an arm tackle for him to break and will not always look for contact every time. He is our biggest of the big 3 RB's and can be considered our "bruiser" this year, but I don't think it would be fair to stereotype him as that.

Ground Chuck deserves to be the starter. He will not get the YAC yards Hester got, but he is not afraid to run between the tackles, or to lower a shoulder when the DBs come up to make the tackle.
No shortage of toughness in that #32 jersey of his.

yeah, Scott should get a lot more

scott may have gotten more YAC against BCS teams in 1 run against UK than hester did all year

I don't think we'll have any difficulty in short yardage. Scott plowing into a hole behind 260 lb. Quinn Johnson, that has been opened up by 380 lb. Herman Johnson and 320 lb. Ciron Black... yeah, I think we'll get a yard. We can always put 320 lb. Ernest McCoy at TE just to make sure.

Maybe. He can get hit and break away, Hester would get hit and grind out a couple more(which was fine).

The only thing I saw that worried my about Scott was the inability to separate. ASU was a lot quicker than I thought, but I would have liked to have seen more separation. He surely had the explosiveness.
