Same here until I learned to stop the belt before the tip clears the belt.

Are you happy with that? I've had the worksharp for several years and it's good but not great IMO, at least for my purposes. I'm thinking about the Apex.

I have had a edge pro for years. It is a very very good system.. I can literally wittle hair after it and a strop.

It is a little time consuming/tedious to get the first good edge set. Once you do that, its really just a touch up hone with either a ceramic rod or 600 or higher grit to polish the edge. It is a repeatable, precision sharpener that is basically fool proof. I know there are cheaper (Lansky) sharpeners that do the same thing, but I like the EdgePro.
