It probably has something to do with it...but the OP's stat doesn't prove anything.

If I told you 80% of people who died of covid had brown or black hair all while the 80% of the population also has brown or black hair, does that mean brown and black hair is the reason people died from the virus?

There are other facts other than the OP's that are more convincing as to why so many obese people have died.
