Dad was a WW2, Korea and Vietnam Marine vet. I do not remember him ever watching a war movie.

My grandfather never talked about WW2. I asked my mom why, and she said his lifelong best friend was in war with him. They were shooting at the enemy and decided to switch positions and as soon as they switched, his best friend took a bullet in the head. That's all he ever mentioned so we never asked him about it. He was like our best friend. When my grandmother died me and brothers each took turns living with him for almost 10 years to take care of him. When he died that was tough.
