Take all the people who have lived since 1900 and ask them to vote on biggest star of the 20th century that they had been aware of during their lives. Elvis would get more votes than Michael Jackson. You still had people claiming Elvis was alive until the end of the century. MJ had the benefit of better technology for his exposure. But Elvis was still famous for the longer part of it.
